A.S Roma Director, Claudio Fenucci, has revealed that Daniele De Rossi’s contract talks are ongoing and the club is hopeful of reaching a conclusion in the near future.
De Rossi’s contract with the Giallorossi is set to expire at the end of the 2011/12 season and he has stated his desire to remain at Stadio Olimpico Rome. However, the midfielder could not agree on the conditions of the contract as both parties are locked in negotiations since the summer.
Fenucci revealed that the club has agreed on some parts of the contract but there is still lot of work to do to reach a decisive conclusion on the matter. The Director confirmed that the player’s agent has given his clients proposals to them and they have also submitted their offer and both parties are trying to work on the differences.
The Chief insisted that both parties want a swift conclusion to the saga continued for the past six months. Fenucci admitted that De Rossi is very important for the club for his professionalism and dedication for them.
While talking to the reporters, Fenucci said, “We have agreed terms on the variable part of the contract, but there is still some distance between us when it comes to the fixed element. His agents have made their request and we have made our offer. Now we have to work on the difference.”
“De Rossi’s contract renewal has been with us for all of the summer. Daniele is important for us though and both parties want to reach an agreement. He’s a great player, an excellent professional and that has to be noted. His aspirations are also legitimate.”
Manchester City are keeping close tabs on the whole scenario and are lining up a lucrative deal for the Italian international should his contract negotiations break down at Stadio Olimpico Rome.
The 28-year-old has been a loyal servant for the Giallorossi and has spent more than 10 years at the club. The Italian international has made 362 appearances and has scored 44 goals for the club thus far.
