Talks between NHL and NHL Players Association for bargaining not scheduled yet
National Hockey League (NHL) and NHL Players Association (NHLPA) were scheduled to meet on 15th September and people were hoping that they would reach agreement with mutual understanding and would save them from a lockout.
But now reports are emerging out that no such meeting is scheduled for future and now chances are fading out that there would be NHL games next season. According to NHL deputy commission players are not looking interested in holding talks and not co-operating
with them to solve the issue by doing a meeting.
Bill Daly, the deputy commissioner wants to sit with the players representative Steve Fehr, Second in command of Player’s association and decide the future after having some dinner and reaching an agreement easily in a relaxing atmosphere. But his offer
has not been accepted yet from Steve.
Talking to the USA Today Sports on a phone, in an interview, Daly made it cleared that he expects to be joined by Fahr for the solution and wants to do it with a glass of Beer in a very friendly environment, as he said,
"I expect to talk to Steve about issues. I expect to have to have beer and dinner and we will see how that goes."
According to him there is no need to worry and there would not be a situation of panic as the talks would easily go on and they are not concerned about anything except the official meeting which is scheduled to take place on the 15th of September.
He also refused to call it a deadline, but he mentioned the fact that it does not look as if Players Association is taking it seriously as him, as he added,
"I don't think panic is right terminology. I hope no one is panicked. Having said that I do believe, based on the response we got on Friday, the concern we had about Sept. 15 not being a real deadline for the players and players association is probably more
likely to be accurate. They certainly aren't acting as if it's a deadline."
It would be interesting to see how talks go on and what would be the outcome on 15th.
