I just got tall boots and i was wondering, is it ok the get a little mud or a little bit of shavings on them or get them a little wet or a little soapy as long as I use a wet wash cloth to clean them off afterword and then dry them with a dry washcloth?

  1. Yes its fine. just clean them after! keep them as dry as poss but dont not use them!

if you happen the get them soaking wet eg: fall into a cross country water jump. dry them upside dwn and pack them/stuff them with news paper that way they wont warp or loss there shape.

keep them in a boot bag if you have one to prevent moisture getting to them - or an old pillow case does the trick!

i have a very expensive pair i only use only at comps and they are always packed unless im in them! - they keep there shape that way.

dont forget to oil them - but not to much otherwise they become to soft. keeping them oiled will help keep them fairly waterproof also!

    good luck happy riding!

  2. Yes it is fine to go ahead and get them a bit muddy, wet ect. I did with mine except a little advice dont get them wet inside they take forever to dry an accurate of 3days of hot sunny weather Minimum lol

  3. yes.. it is perfectly fine... saddles, boots, and bridles are made with a type of leather that is built to withstand water and mud... just clean it when you are done using it!

    happy riding!

  4. yep

    they're just boots

    ok, expensive boots

  5. I would not wear them around the barn.  Save them for shows since they are so expensive and get a pair of paddock boots for around the barn.  But if you do want to wear them just wipe them off after and they will be fine.

  6. as long as they don't soak in it for long periods of time, it shouldn't be a problem. you could also get rubber covers for the actual foot part of them to keep them from being muddy.

  7. It sounds as if you are wearing your tall boots around the barn. I would not do that. My leather paddock boots are messed up from getting wet, muddy, etc. so I am assuming the same can happen to tall boots (duhh). Get a pair of paddock boots you don't care about to wear around the barn and try to save the tall boots for showing, I know how expensie they can be!
