Question:

Tall boots and sweat stains?

I ride in my tall boots all the time, and I usually polish them afterwards, but I didn't the other day and they had sweat on them. So now they have that white salt halo around the area that got sweat on them, and I have NO idea how to get them to go away. I've used a wet rag and wiped the area dry and then polished them, but the halo keeps coming back. How do I fix that, and what do you do to clean your boots before you polish them. Just polishing them alone doesn't seem to be as beneficial.

I have Ariat Challenge field boots if that helps at all.

  1. hm never heard of a white ring from sweat, ask your trainer maybe she will know? lol

  2. Wear antipersparaint on your legs like Paulie Bleaker in Juno! Hehe lol. Try putting some stain removals on it. When men or women get armpit sweat stains that is what people use. (I know it is nasty!! :) Good Luck!

  3. Use a regular old tack cleaner, what ever you use to clean your tack with. Then polish. You still have to clean your boots like you clean any other leather. The polish will just make them shine

  4. ther isnt a specific cleaner for it.  i wipe mine with a rag & it goes away till my next ride.  usually ariat boots dry quickly so the sweat turns into that white stuff quicker.  there is nothing you can do about your horse sweating, so i would just continue cleaning it.
