Tall fighters?

i am 6'1 and 140 pounds i box i started in february and i find it easy to beat up other beginner boxers that are 5'4-5'9 because they cant defend the jab does anyone else have this happen and if so do u still stay good once u fight better people?

  1. being tall will hurt you one day, even thou u have the adventage of being tall, a guy with too much speed or power will hurt you regardels of your size, but like the guy above said, its about the game plan, being tall is always an advernage, Im 5'11 and I never had problems with people under 6'1 ,mainly because of speed and confidence (skill)

I've got a fight for you to watch to test your hypothesis.  You can probably find it on youtube.  Paul Williams vs. Margarito.  being tall can be an advantage but if you don't have a game plan for someone who can avoid your jab you'll be in for a rude awakening soon.  I'm 5'5" and I fight at 165.  I haven't ran into a jab I couldn't eat yet.

  3. my best bro is a pro boxer... Your confidence will help you but the gap of performance between the tall and short diminishes as you fight boxers with more skill. In the true test the taller guy actually has a few disadvantages, as does the shorter. Body shots can sometimes take a larger toll than getting hit the head and you may not be used to getting them from "beginning" boxers.
