Tamarind Hall to make a comeback in the Chaldea Stakes at Belmont Park on 8th July, 2012
The David Fawkes trained, Tamarind Hall, will be making her way to Belmont Park to compete in the $85,000, Chaldea Stakes on 8th July, 2012, after she competed in the U Can Do It Handicap at Calder on 9th June,
2012.
With jockey Juan Leyva on her back, the mare finished fifth in the six furlong dash. Regarding this performance, David Fawkes told the press that:
“I thought the filly would just gallop in that race,” Fawkes further stated: “I don’t know if it was because she was buried inside or if she didn’t like the track, but she just didn’t fire. She seems like one of those who has to have her track with
her. Numbers-wise, she definitely moves up at Belmont Park.”
The performance of the Brinker Hill Farm owned runner was quite disappointing, considering the trainer had high hopes, but her race at Belmont Park will give her a chance to redeem herself.
Having prior experience at this track might give the daughter of Graeme Hall, foaled by mare Turner's Hall a slight benefit.
She has good memories here, and last year she won the Grade 3 Bed o' Roses Handicap on at the same venue, when she was paired with rider, David Cohen and finished 5 1/4 lengths before the Chad Brown trained, Kid Kate, while Spa City Princess finished
third.
On 24th September, 2011, she finished as a runner-up in the Grade 2 Gallant Bloom Stakes at Belmont Park, over a distance of 6 1/2 furlongs, but lost it to Pomeroys Pistol, while Lovely Lil finished third.
The trainer is hoping that the older division runner will bring some of the same fervor, and determination to the track and ace the race.
The mare has been through a series of practice runs and work-puts to improve her form, as she has been transferred to Monmouth since her last race in June at Calder.
Joined with rider Joel Rosario, Tamarind Hall will enter the race from post 2, and it is high time that the runner adds another victory to her record and restores her former glory.
