Tamijo Treadwell becomes new head coach of Lady Wildcats – Volleyball news
The Deming High School volleyball team, which has the official mascot named Lady Wildcat, has recently hired a new head coach in the 2012 season.
Tamijo Treadwell, who was previously attached with the C-Team of the school, has now leap-frogged from her position to the new role of head of volleyball programme at the Lady Wildcat varsity in DHS.
The official announcement about the appointment of Tamijo Treadwell as head coach was made on Friday by the DHS’ Athletic and Activities Director Mike Ellis. He also opined that the new mentor of the volleyball programme will be effective for the growth
and development of volleyball in the school. Ellis fairly admitted that Treadwell has the ability and experience to lead DHS Volleyball Programme in the right direction. In his opinion, Treadwell will be great support for student athletes to attain an outstanding
work ethic.
Before Treadwell, the DHS Volleyball Programme was supervised by Lani Hofacket for past six seasons. Hofacket parted her ways with the team on January 25, which created the opportunity for Treadwell to take over the DHS Volleyball Programme.
Treadwell took of pleasure to accept the offer of DHS management to accept the role of head coach. Speaking of her selection as head of volleyball programme, she said, “I wanted the best for this programme and the selection committee had some excellent choices
in making their decision. I know the programme and I know the athletes. It should be a smooth transition.”
She further added, “I believe volleyball involves a little bit of all sport. We have our work cut out for us, but I would like to see the Lady 'Cat program back on top. It has to start from the bottom and move up. From seventh grade and into the varsity
level...we all have to be on the same page and doing the same things.”
Treadwell is also a graduate of the same school. She completed his degree from DHS in 1988. During her time at DHS as a student, she played different sports. Later on, she moved to the University of New Mexico and received her Bachelor’s Degree in 1994.
She also did her Masters in curriculum and instruction from New Mexico State in 2005.
