Tamika Catchings, Tangela Smith, Seimone Augustus: Top players from Game-1 of WNBA Conference Finals
Two games took place in women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) Conference finals on Thursday night. Here is an overview of some of the noticeable performances on the night:
Indiana Fever vs. Atlanta Dream
Tamika Catchings
After being announced as the WNBA’s Most Valuable Player earlier Thursday, Indiana Fever forward Tamika Catchings did all the right things in an 82-74 victory over Atlanta Dream in Game-1 of the Eastern Conference finals. As has
been the case so many times this season, Catchings recorded a double-double with 13 rebounds and 12 points. The 32-year-old also dished out three assists and stole the ball twice in the victory. The seven-time WNBA All-Star went 8 for 10 from free throw line.
Tangela Smith
Indiana’s forward Tangela Smith headed all the scorers with 25 points in the victory.  Smith also pulled down nine rebounds and blocked four shots. The player shot 9 for 15 from the field, including 5 for 7 from three-point range.
Lindsey Harding
Lindsey Harding led Dream with 17 points. The Duke University’s product dealt out seven assists, grabbed six rebounds and had two steals in her 40 minutes of action. She shot 7 for 17 from the floor and pinned 2 of 2 free throws.
Sancho Lyttle
 Sancho Lyttle added 14 points, grabbed seven rebounds and stole the ball three times for Atlanta. The player ended the night on a 7 for 16 shooting from the field.
Minnesota Lynx vs. Phoenix Mercury
Seimone Augustus
Seimone Augustus posted 21 points and dished out seven assists in Minnesota’s 95-67 win over Phoenix Mercury in the first game of the Western Conference finals at the Target Center. The 27-year-old guard/forward finished with an
8 for 14 shooting from the field and a perfect 5 from free throw line.
Rebekkah Brunson
Rebekkah Brunson registered a double-double with 13 points, on a 6 of 10 shooting, and 13 rebounds. The towering centre also had two steals and two blocks in more than 30 minutes.
Maya Moore
Rookie Maya Moore recorded 15 points, grabbed seven rebounds and had two steals. The player scored 13 of her points in the first quarter as Minnesota carried a 17-point lead, 28-11, into the second quarter. Moore pinned 2 of 3
shots from downtown.
Diana Taurasi
Phoenix’s Diana Taurasi racked up a game-high 22 points and grabbed five rebounds. The 6 ft guard was 7 for 15 from the floor on the night, including 2 for 6 from three-point range and 6 for 7 from free throw line.
