Tamika Catchings: Top 18 Performances from 2011 WNBA Regular Season – Part 1
Indiana Fever forward Tamika Catchings, who turned 32 in July, made an emphatic stamp on the league during the 2011 WNBA regular season.
Averaging 15.5 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game and missing just a single regular season game; the seven-time WNBA All-Star had a phenomenal regular season on the court. The 32-year-old forward led Fever
to the top seed in the Eastern Conference with a 21-13 record. In doing so, she won the 2011 WNBA’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the first time in her career. She was the runner-up in 2003, 2009 and 2010.
“It is definitely exciting for me and my family and the fans. Catchings said upon receiving the award. “The support that I have gotten has just been tremendous.” "It is neat for me to know the impact that it's going to have. The
fans have written me on Facebook and Twitter this season; they say they are so appreciative of my game.”
Catching, drafted by the Fever in 2001, was also voted in by fans as one of the Top 15 players in WNBA history. The forward averages 16.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.5 steals per game during her WNBA career and is one
of the all-time greats.

Catchings’ 15 in the season opener
Opening the regular season with a splendid performance, the Adlai E. Stevenson High School product promised a season full of achievements. Catchings scored 15 points as Indiana Fever clinched a 65-57 victory over Chicago Sky in
the very first game of the season on June 4 at the Conseco Fieldhouse.
She also grabbed nine rebounds, dished out three assists and stole the ball three times. Catchings played for more than 32 minutes and shot a perfect 7 for 7 from free throw line.
June 19 vs. Phoenix Mercury
Although Catchings failed to lead her team to a victory against Phoenix Mercury, she recorded a brilliant double-double. The player added 17 and a team-high 15 rebounds in a 93-89 overtime loss on June 19 at the US Airways Center.
Catchings ended the game on 6 for 14 shooting from the floor, including 2 for 5 from three-point range.
