June 25 vs. Connecticut Sun
On June 25, Tamika Catchings recorded her 70th career double-double as Indiana Fever moved into the first-place in the Eastern Conference with a 75-70 victory over the visiting Connecticut Sun. The four-time Defensive Player of
the Year posted a team-high 13 points on 7 for 8 shooting from the line and grabbed a game-best 12 rebounds in the victory.
The player also dealt out five assists and had two steals. She made a pair of free throws with 12.9 seconds remaining to stretch Indiana’s lead to 73-70 for good. Sun had a chance to tie the score in the closing second, but Catchings
stole the ball from Renee Montgomery and passed it to Shyra Ely, who sealed the victory with a lay-up.
June 26 vs. Minnesota Lynx
On June 26 at the Target Center, Tamika Catchings scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two assists, leading the Fever to a superb 78-75 victory over Minnesota Lynx.
With her team trailing by 71-69 and only 03:13 to go in the fourth quarter, the veteran All-Star successfully drove to the rim and tied the game at 71. Indiana never looked back after that. Catching ended on 7 for 15 shooting from
the field.
June 28 vs. Phoenix Mercury
Catchings added 14 points, dished out seven assists, stole the ball four times and blocked three shots in Indiana’s 91-86 victory over Phoenix Mercury on June 28. The 32-year-old forward scored 10 of her points in the crucial second
half as Fever recorded their fourth consecutive victory. Catchings hit 5 for 12 from the field and a perfect 4 for 4 from free throw line.
July 15 vs. Minnesota Lynx
Playing on the road, Catchings topped all the scorers with 22 points and grabbed team-high five rebounds. Indiana however lost the game by a 10-point margin, 80-70 as Minnesota Lynx displayed some offensive prowess of their own.
The veteran player shot 6 for 13 from the floor, 2 for 5 from three-point range, and 8 for 8 from the line.
July 17 vs. Connecticut Sun
On July 17, Catchings recorded 18 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead Indiana. Her team however failed to overcome a ten-point halftime deficit and were defeated by the Connecticut Sun, 76-71, at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
Catchings also stole the ball three times in more than 34 minutes of action. Her driving finger roll lay-up with 28 seconds to go made it a two-point contest, but Connecticut hit 3 consecutive free throws down the stretch to seal
the victory. Catching finished the night on a 6 for 11 shooting from the field and 5 for 7 from the free throw line.
