http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tamim-Iqbal-c2640: Bangladesh have not played at their best so far – ICC World Cup 2011 news
Bangladesh opening batsman Tamim Iqbal conceded on Thursday that his side has not so far played at its best in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2011 and it would be great if they made it to the quarterfinals.
“If we can make the quarter-finals, it will be great because that was the team's target before the tournament,” said the belligerent left-handed batsman. “We have not played our best cricket yet. We can do better than that and we will try to do that
against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 have six points from five games and currently stand at fourth place in Group B. The Tigers will make it to the quarterfinals without any effort if West Indies manage to defeat England in the match on Thursday. But if that does not happen,
the Dhaka Boys would have to upset flamboyant South Africa in their last league match on Saturday to earn a berth in the knockout stage.
Bangladesh, the only side in the showpiece event with the advantage of playing their entire league games at home, stunned England and the two associate teams, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Netherlands-c753 in their previous matches. But they lost the Cup opener to co-hosts
and tournament hot favourites http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 after being bundled out for their lowest ever One Day International total of 58.
Tamim said that they have come into the tournament with an aim of winning 50 per cent of their World Cup games. He further added that they have already done their job and even if they failed to make it to the final eight, it would not be a big deal.
“Even if we don’t play the quarter-finals, it will not take anything away from us,” said Tamim. “Our aim was to win at least three matches and we have already achieved that target.”
Talking about the team morale, the 21-year-old said that the morale is not all-time high but the dressing room atmosphere is good and the boys are positive about their game against the Proteas.
