Tamim Iqbal - the Key for Bangladesh in the ICC World T20 2012 - Part 1 - Opinion
With fast wrists and a knack for bludgeoning bowling attacks around the world, Tamim Iqbal of Bangladesh is one of the finest batsmen that the country has ever produced. He is also one of the most exciting players going around in the international circuit
today. As a player, he has a good technique, and combines his ability to middle the ball with some breathtaking strokes. He has a natural inclination towards scoring runs through the off side, but is equally apt at timing the ball through the leg side as well.
In a nutshell, he is one of Bangladesh’s most accomplished players to date.
Iqbal can be credited for playing numerous match winning innings for his team, and reached the best form in his career by taking the Tigers to the brink of winning the Asia Cup of 2012. In light of his past achievements, the spotlight would be on this dashing
left hander from Chittagong to deliver for his side, as the Tigers head off to the Emerald Isle for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World T20 of 2012 which starts on the 18th of September.
Iqbal had a splendid SLPL of 2012, with his innings of 93 off just 61 deliveries against the Uthura Royals being one of the highlights of that tournament. Prior to this, he had been a formidable force in a team which had historically struggled to keep itself
on the cricketing map. When he first arrived into the scene, Tamim Iqbal was already considered to be one of the hardest hitters of the cricket ball that the country had ever produced. He certainly lived up to that reputation by annihilating the Indian bowling
attack all over the Queen’s Park Oval in Bangladesh’s famous win in the 2007 Cricket World Cup. That performance however, was just the start of a legacy from a batsman who has a fan following which is in millions.
No batsman in the current Bangladeshi line up, barring http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shakib-Al-Hasan-c2492 himself, plays with such assurance as Tamim Iqbal does in his prime. His technique is rock solid, which is always an added advantage for any player, but Tamim boasts an array of strokes
which he manages to pull off with ease and precision. For most batsmen, driving on the up is a cumbersome task, which requires great skill. For Tamim Iqbal however, such strokes come naturally and often frustrate the bowling side to the very core. The great
thing about him however, is that he can play spin with the same assurance, and never really falters if the ball turns prodigiously. The fact that he gets his front pad into the line of the ball as an initial movement enables him to caress the ball through
the gaps and in the process keeps the scoreboard ticking over.
Bangladeshi batsmen have historically gained notoriety for being reckless in their approach towards ODI and T20 cricket. This recklessness has also hampered their progression in the Test match arena. Tamim on the other hand, is someone who is truly unique,
as he combines his flare and talent with rare maturity at the crease. His level headedness was a key factor in helping http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 gnaw their way into their first ever final in an international tournament. The Asia Cup of 2012 saw some of the finest batting
displays from this talented batsman, where sides like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tamim-Iqbal-c2640 ended up with a series of half centuries which made him Bangladesh’s leading run scorer in that tournament.
