I bought 4 parakeets from petsmart 3 weeks ago and they are wild. Whenever I try to take them out of the cage they bite me really hard & fly all over the cage. How can I try to tame them?

  1. Start by slowly resting your hand inside the cage, dont try to pick any of them up.  Just set your hand inside until they calm down.  Do this until they seem used to it.  Then get closer, put it on a top perch.  Do that until they seem comfortable.  Then you can attempt to take one out.  They may not go willingly the first couple times.  Just bring one out, sit and talk to it, don't try to do things with it. Just let it set there and get used to it.  Be patient.  the time will come when all of the sudden they will be completely comfortable.

  2. the best way is 2 hold them and dont show emotion i know it hurts but u have u show them that u own them ive done it b4 and i have scars 2 prove  it but thats the best way

  3. It will be very difficult to tame them with all four of them in the cage together. You might make a little headway with one bird but by the time you catch another bird it will be lost because of the flying around.. Come back after you have caged them in separate cages. You should find all the information in the world in a  Parakeet Handbook by THF. You can find them on Ebay for less than $5.

  4. taming parakeets is a long process if u have alot of birds but im sure u can do it, check out http://www.parrotcentral.net/how_to_tame... for good tips on how to train them, also u might need to separate them during training, goodluck!
