Taming northern saw whet owl?

Question

i live with a woods in my back yard and i was wondering if it would be possible to tame a northern saw whet owl so it could eat from my hand. like put out food everynight and then move it close anc closer to my window. would that be safe? is there any advice? thanks.

I don't think it's possible. Northern Saw-Whet Owls are shy creatures and won't eat from your hand (unless you work at a raptor center). If you put out meat, they won't come. They eat rodents and insects ALIVE. And won't eat carrion (dead meat). If you put meat out, you'll attract racoons and foxes, coyotes and many other predators you don't want.
