Tamira Paszek expunges Christina McHale in the second round – Wimbledon Championships 2011
Tamira Paszek of Austria is one step closer towards her dreams at the Wimbledon Championships 2011, as she dispatched the world No.73 Christina McHale of America in the second round of the season’s third major tournament. Paszek
surprisingly eased to victory with a 6-4, 6-1 score line over her American opponent.
It looked as if it was going to be a tough battled between the two women, since McHale displayed some great form to outplay the twenty-eighth seeded Ekaterina Makarova of Russia in the first round the tournament. However, it did
not turn out to be that tough, as Paszek knew that she had to play no matter what it takes to reach the third round.
In the opener, Paszek started off great by breaking McHale’s serve to grab the early advantage. McHale hammered a single ace, 68 percent of first serve and scored 56 percent of points on her first serve and 33 percent of points
on her second serve respectively. In contrast Paszek proved herself to better player statistically, scoring two more points on return to clinch the opener with six games to four.
After losing the first set in just 47 minutes, it looked like all hope was lost for the American, who was broken in her opening service game and although she struggled hard, when it came to the business end of the set, Paszek just
thrilled through the gears.
As a matter of fact, world No.73 did give the ball a real crack at times and had Paszek, scampering around all over the place. But the Austrian more than had enough quality to see off the American in one hour and nineteen minutes
to reach the third round of the tournament.
The 20-year-old Austrian clinched the second set by virtue of a whopping ten winners while committing a little number of unforced errors. In contrast, her adversary lost the second set with a whopping difference of fifteen points
on return and finally bowed down with a 6-4, 6-2 score.
Paszek, now move on ahead to face either Francesca Schiavone of Italy or Czech Republic’s Barbora Zahlavova Strycova in the third round of the tournament.
