Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman training hard and losing weight in preparation for new season

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, Josh Freeman, had one of his worst seasons last year as he struggled to build on his performance in 2010-11.

This year though the quarterback is looking to get back into top form and lead a new look Buccaneers side back into the playoffs.

According to general manager, Mark Dominik who was talking on the NFL Network on Wednesday, Freeman is committed to regain the form that saw him become one of the league’s most exciting up-and-coming quarterback in 2010-11 and has even slimmed down to develop more mobility into his game.

"You've seen a guy who's completely committed to getting his season back on track and hitting the reset button and getting his game back to hopefully to more of what we saw in 2010 as a young 22-year-old,"

Adding further he said.

The last couple years, he's been playing around 255-260 (pounds). Right now, he's sitting downstairs (at the team facility) weighing about 235-238.”

Freeman in 2010-11 passed for 3,451 yards and racked up a 61.4% pass completion rate as he threw for 25 touchdowns while being intercepted just six times.

Last season though the quarterback diminished in production like many of his teammates and even though he passed for more yards 3,592 and had a better pass completion rate of 62.8%, the quarterback threw just 16 touchdown passes while being intercepted a mammoth 22 times.

With his declining performance in addition to the struggles of one of the poorest defences in the league the Bucs ended up with a 4-12 record as they lost all of their last 10 games.

With a new coaching staff now installed in Tampa Bay led by new head coach, Greg Schiano, Freeman is training hard to deliver on his undoubted potential.

"He's getting his body right, working on getting more mobility and better conditioned and buying in, heart and soul, to how and what (the newly hired) Mike Sullivan is and wants to be as offensive coordinator."

The Buccaneers in the current free agency made some big splashes to shore up their offensive line giving Freeman more options down the field.
