Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano satisfied by attitude at training camp - NFL News
New Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach, Greg Schiano took his first workout sessions this week with his new team and he was relatively pleased with what he saw.
Speaking at a pre-draft news conference on Thursday, Schiano said he was pleased with his players’ attitude on the training ground.
“I was really encouraged, mostly by the attitude of our guys, the energy level they brought to work every day. If we continue to grow that, all the other stuff will grow with it."
The Buccaneers drafted in three big name free agents this offseason as the franchise sent a statement of intent to the rest of the league with the arrival of wide receiver, Vincent Jackson, cornerback Eric Wright and guard, Carl Nicks.
Now Schiano has turned his attention to the upcoming drafts to incorporate some exciting new talent into the roster as he looks to get the Buccaneers back among the elite teams of the National Football League (NFL).
Tampa Bay has the fifth overall pick in this year’s drafts after ending the 2011-12 season with a 4-12 record.
He was asked about his plans for the draft but Schiano did not name specific players he would like to bring over but gave hints as to the type of player he was looking for.
“We know the kind of young men we want to bring here, not only as football players but as people. And we're going to get Buccaneer men as we say – guys who do the things we expect them to do and the talents to give us win championships."
The franchise ended last season with a poor 4-12 record and lost its final 10 games. The result led to the sacking of former coach, Raheem Morris and most of the coaching staff as the owners looked to a fresh start in the new season.
The Glazers who own the franchise settled on Schiano and his arrival plus addition of big name stars to the roster has gotten hopes for the new season back up.
The Buccaneers have been linked with running back, Trent Richardson and cornerback, Morris Claiborne in this year’s drafts and one of those two names is likely to become the fifth overall pick on April 26th.
These are exciting times at Tampa Bay as the franchise looks to get back on its feet after recent disappointing seasons.
