Tampa Bay Bucs OC Mike Sullivan sees Tom Coughlin in head coach Greg Schiano - NFL News
Last season Tampa Bay Buccaneers were a team struggling with indiscipline among players and delivered some of the worst performances ever seen by a professional football team.
The Bucs ended up with a poor 4-12 record after losing all of their last 10 games which led the owners to fire head coach, Raheem Morris and all of his coaching staff.
Rutgers head coach, Greg Schiano arrived in Tampa Bay to take over the reins of the franchise in the current offseason and his first priority was to improve the roster while also instilling discipline in the team as he prepares the Buccaneers for the upcoming
2012-13 season.
Offensive coordinator, Mike Sullivan, joined Schiano at Tampa Bay after spending eight seasons with the New York Giants, and after looking at the Bucs head coach take training, Sullivan has nothing but praise to offer about his new boss.
Speaking in a radio interview, Sullivan compared Schiano’s coaching methodology with Giants head coach, Tom Coughlin.
According to JoeBucsFan, Sullivan lavished praise on the new Bucs coach.
“Coach Schiano is in many ways similar to (Tom) Coughlin, from the standpoint of very, very organized and detailed and things like discipline and structure and organization being at a premium. I think he’s very bright. And I think he’s someone that has brought
a concept of family."
Comparing Schiano to a coach who just won the Super Bowl over New England Patriots is high praise indeed.
Coughlin is known for putting discipline and team chemistry ahead of everything and those traits have been noticed by Sullivan during the Bucs offseason.
Speaking about the team that will take the field in the new season the offensive coordinator said.
“I think what a lot of folks can expect is just to see a team that’s going to be very disciplined and that’s going to be really focused on the type of preparation it takes to be at their best,"
This is a huge season for Schiano who beat many more experienced coaches to take the Bucs job and many analysts felt that Tampa Bay’s owners took a big risk by hiring the untested coach.
