Tampa Bay Lightning Players still in Limbo over playing overseas during Lockout -NHL Update
As surprising as it might sound, but Tampa Bay Lightning players are still in a limbo on whether they should be playing abroad during the lockout in the National Hockey League (NHL) or stay right where they are and wait the decision out.
Players like Steven Stamkos and Teddy Purcell can get contracts with foreign leagues in an instant, which definitely has a lot of analysts confused over the fact as to why they have not made anything public yet, or want to continue staying under the radar
themselves.
While there is some sort of movement around the league as big name players like Alex Ovechkin have already made their exit, fans are still waiting to see how Stamkos and the remaining Lightning club play the situation out.
"Most of the guys have been talking and from the way it sounds we are prepared to be locked out the entire year,'' Tampa Bay forward, Ryan Malone, said, according to 2.tbo.com.”So, guys are going to start heading to Europe to be able to play hockey.''
While the team is continuing to practice informally during the lockout, most players are just hoping that the deadlock between the NHL and Players’ Association will soon come to an end in order to ensure that they continue getting their pay checks along
with something to give to their dedicated fans.
Others have termed next month and especially the date when the regular season is scheduled to start as their deadline since that would be the real time to actually get on board another club in either Russia, Switzerland or Germany.
"I'm going to give it a couple of weeks, maybe until mid-October and then I'll start to be serious,'' Marty St. Louis said. "You tend to be a little more patient (having) kids, but it's something that we are definitely going to look at harder in the next
couple of weeks.''
Steven Stamkos was also cited to have added the same views by terming mid-October and is waiting to see that whether some sort of fair deal will be worked out by then or not between the two stakeholders.
