Tampa Bay Lightning comes across questions for the first time in weeks (Part 2)
Continuing from where we left off in the first part of the article, Tampa Bay Lightning also had a bad day in front of the goal, its goalkeeper struggling while guarding the goal.
Lighting’s goalkeeper, Dwayne Roloson, kept Lightning in contention till the end of the first period as they were trailing 2-1. He made some brilliant saves, stopping some shots that were destined to find the back of the net with his spectacular goalkeeping
skills.
However, the second period witnessed a totally changed Lightning and Bruins team.
Bruins was offensive as soon as the second period kicked off and scored five times during the period which resulted in Roloson being replaced by Mike Smith, while Lightning pulled one back.
Lightning gave away possession of the puck way too easily several times, resulting in the goalie being pressurized too often. Roloson was able to deal with it initially but later crumbled under pressure that resulted in Bruins leading in the period and winning
the game by 6-5 to level the series at 1-1.
Steven Stamkos said, “Our d-zone coverage wasn't what we wanted it to be. We have a certain mindset and certain game plan coming in. It's the little things that we talked about and worked on all year, you know, stick on puck, and just being smart, managing
the puck. I thought throughout the playoffs, both the forwards and the defense in the d-zone have done a great job of taking that extra step to make a play and make a pass, and we were a little -- a step behind last night. I think our 1-3-1 for the first time
in a long time, it didn't look like we were all on the same page”.
Lightning was hoping to come only two games within the record for most wins during the course of the play-offs but this didn’t happen. It was unable to continue on winning ways and lost the game to end a long winning streak in the postseason.
Nevertheless, even though Lightning lost the game, it doesn’t mean that it is out of contention to win the series. These were the type of statements that came after the loss to Bruins.
This didn’t mean that Lightning didn’t make mistakes during the game. In fact it made some major blunders that cost it the game.
