Tampa Bay Lightning comes across questions for the first time in weeks (Part 3)
There were numerous mistakes made by Tampa Bay Lightning during the second game and one of the obvious ones was that they were unable to handle the puck and retain possession.
Whether it was offence or defence, Lightning wasn’t able to deal with the puck properly and this cost it the game. David Krejci was given the puck at a position near the left wing and later the rookie and star of the game, Tyler Seguin, scored twice even
though mistakes were made at the back.
It was said that Bruins won the second game partly due to its players being quick and tackling their opponents comprehensively and partly due to Lightning’s players’ poor performance.
Lightning displayed calmness and composure during the first game of the series but lost its cool in the second game which resulted in the team suffering a loss in the end.
“I think it was more decisions, decision-making”, Lecavalier said. “I want to give them credit for the way they played. They really came hard last night and they played a good game. But our structure -- I think it was more decision-making that we started
doing. And sometimes it kind of snowballs, and it snowballed in the second period. We got a few penalties in the first. They kept coming after us. They had that momentum. In the second period I think, yeah, definitely some decisions that -- maybe a few turnovers,
you know, just maybe mental on where to be on the ice, to be in that structure, we weren't there”.
The final period of the second game witnessed Bruins also coming up with some aggressive play that resulted in the team giving away three penalties. Lightning was able to score two goals but fell short by a goal in their attempt to equalize.
Bruins was brilliant in the game and the third game was expected to match the level of excitement and skill of the second game. The game was played at the St. Pete Times Forum and Lightning was expected to come out strong after it lost the second game.
However, Bruins’ David Krejci didn’t take long to score a goal, finding the back of the net in the second minute of the game to put Bruins in lead.
The teams had several chances to score goals but they were unable to capitalize on the opportunities coming their way and Bruins sealed the game with another goal in the final period to win the game by 2-0 and lead the series by 2-1.
