Tampa Bay Lightning fans to protest against the National Hockey League lockout
It has been around one month since the National Hockey League (NHL) lockout began and it is causing a lot of frustration among fans and the supporters of the game, which is slightly beginning to be shown now.
Some fans have decided to protest against the NHL lockout, as the season heads towards the second lockout in last 8 years and seems to be causing problems every time a contract ends between the NHL officials and the NHL Players’ Association (NHLPA).
Among the fans which are highly disappointed and want to show it by actions now, there is Jay Tregler, a 39-year-old Tampa Bay Lightning’s fan, who has decided to come out to protest now.
Tregler has made it clear that if the whole season is locked out once again, like it was the last time around, he might also cancel the season tickets, which he has kept with himself for a long time, since 1996 to be precise.
The Seffner resident would also hold out two protests against the cancellation of pre-season and the first three weeks of regular season, which looks to be going a long way now. It has already made a lot of players to leave NHL and most of the European players
have moved back to their countries or in other European countries to play the top level hockey.
One thing that is causing extra disappointment for Lightning’s fans is that their team would have opened their current campaign on this very day, celebrating their 20th anniversary.
The fan reaction does not look inappropriate to the Tampa Bay players as they have defended their fans sentiments and the feelings. On Friday, their defenseman Sami Solo spoke about it after the training at their home ice and felt sorry for their fans as
he said,
"No, not at all. I feel bad for the fans that they have to go through this again."
The goaltender Mathieu Garon also spoke about as he thinks the fans are not to be blamed for such reaction as he justified them saying,
"I wouldn't blame them. It must be disappointing”.
Fans would still be hoping that something works for them and season starts as soon as possible.
