Tampa Bay Lightning reaching a milestone in the postseason, Curtis Glencross signs a four year deal with Calgary Flames

Tampa Bay Lightning
Tampa Bay Lightning has bagged some superb performances during the course of the playoffs and on some occasions, it has completely shut its opponents to end with a dominating score that has put it in a strong position for Stanley Cup contention.
Lightning was brilliant in its last game against Boston Bruins. Though Bruins was expected to come up with a much closer and tougher fight, Lightning won the game with a thrashing 5-2 performance.
The win puts Tampa Bay in a 1-0 lead in Eastern Conference Finals and also gives it its eighth consecutive victory in the playoffs.
Lightning’s winning streak began with the win against Pittsburgh Penguins in three consecutive games that also resulted in Lightning winning the series.
The streak of victories kicked off with an amazing performance by Lightning that witnessed it winning the fifth game against Penguins by 8-2 and then continuing on that form.
The second round was expected to be a little tougher as it was up against the Eastern Conference winners, Washington Capitals.
However, Lightning went on ice showing its brilliance and knocked Hawks out in four games, winning the series with a clean sweep performance.
If we talk about the time during the streak, then Lightning has come up with some staggering statistics that has seen it completely demolishing its opponents as it has scored a total of 34 goals and conceded only 16.
Lightning has done this while maintaining a superb average of four goals per game and allowing only two goals per game.
Lightning has been in top form as it has scored at least four or more goals during the streak on eight occasions so far.
This is the longest streak in the playoffs since the 2008 Stanley Cup for Lightning (8 wins) after Detroit Red Wings (9 wins) led it to the title in 2008.
However, if Lightning is successful in winning the second game against Boston Bruins, then it would be near the all time National Hockey League record of most consecutive wins in a single playoff of 11 consecutive wins.
This record was set by Chicago Blackhawks in 1992, Pittsburgh Penguins in 1992 and Montreal Canadiens in 1993.
The amazing fact ahead of this is that Penguins and Canadiens went on to lift the Stanley Cups in the years they established the record.
Curtis Glencross
Curtis Glencross was impressive during the past regular season (2010-11) and this is the reason that the player was offered a four-year contract to stay with Calgary Flames.
The contract is worth $10.2 million and surely comes as a reward for the best statistics of the 28-year-old’s career as he posted 24 goals and 43 assists in 79 games that he played.
