Tampa Bay Lightning win 2-1 against Florida Panthers after shootout

One of the most important games of the weekend was the Florida Panthers playing host to Tampa Bay Lightning.
The match was played at Bank Atlantic Centre. This was the 710th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series with around 17,000 fans coming to witness the match.
Both teams scored a goal each in the first period after which no goals were scored in two periods and the regulation time ended with the scores level.
The match went into overtime but no goals were scored.
Resultantly, the match went into a shootout where Dominic Moore’s goal proved to be the difference as Tampa Bay Lightning won the match 2-1. Dominic Moore was named the star selection of the match for his important goal during the shootout.
Florida Panthers started the match on a high firing shots and constructing some superb pieces of play. Florida Panthers immediately scored through Cory Stillman from a superb flick shot in the very first minute to take the lead.
Florida Panthers continued to pile on the pressure but with the passage of time Tampa Bay Lightning got stronger and stronger and managed to level the scores.
The goal was scored by Steve Downie from a brilliant flick shot in the 15th minute.
Florida Panthers finished the period on a high with strong goal attempts. The scores at the end of the period were level at 1-1 with Florida Panthers making 11 goal attempts while the Tampa Bay Lightning made 6 goal attempts.
Tampa Bay Lightning made a decent start to the second period making a few goal attempts early on. They came up with decent passing and shooting but this was all short lived as the home team started to dominate the proceedings once again.
Florida Panthers started to get into the flow after which they unsettled the Tampa Bay defence with shots from everywhere on the pitch. The pin point and quick passing on display by the Panthers enabled them to come across numerous scoring chances but they
failed to capitalise on them.
The period unfortunately didn’t see any goals despite some clear cut chances for both teams. The scores were still level on 1-1, with Tampa Bay Lightning making 5 goal attempts while the Florida Panthers made 9 goal attempts.
The final period was pretty much a reflection of the second period with the only difference being that the Tampa Bay Lightning were a little stronger on the offence. Chances came for both teams but they didn’t score and the period ended with the scores still
level on 1-1.
During the course of the period Tampa Bay Lightning made 8 goal attempts while the Florida Panthers made 9 goal attempts.
The match went into overtime where no goals were scored. As a result, the match went into a shootout where Dominic Moore’s goal won the match for the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1.
