Tampa Bay Lightning’s owner, Jeff Vinik, appearing at the National Hockey League Hour
Tampa Bay Lightning’s owner, Jeff Vinik, will be appearing on the National Hockey League Hour this Thursday, May 19th.
The Lightning owner will be talking about the team’s performance after he took over, while Eddie Olczyk and Phil Esposito will host the show in Tampa.
Vinik became the owner of Lightning after he brought the team in February 2010 and has been working on bringing Lightning up since his takeover.
He added Steve Yzerman to the administration and is hoping that Lightning is not only considered as one of the formidable teams in NHL but they win the Stanley Cup in the very first season of this transformation.
Yzerman has done pretty well so far in the boots of General Manager that he was presented with and has made some bold decisions. Although many said that these might turn out to be wrong, he carried on like bringing in players from teams such as Florida Panthers.
The decisions have certainly paid off since not only is Lightning in the Eastern Conference Finals but they have now cemented their position in the Finals after a brilliant performance.
The addition of Guy Boucher as the coach of the team was another bold and brilliant decisions taken by Lightning’s administration. Even though he was not thought to be perfect for the job, he has let the results do the talking for him.
He didn’t have much experience in NHL and many said that he wouldn’t be compatible.
However, his guidance has not only turned things around for the team but has made them one of the favourites to lift the Stanley Cup this season.
Lightning has been struggling over the past four years in the league as they were unable to make their way into the playoffs.
Lightning making its way into the Conference Finals also marks the first time the team has made it so far since the 2004 season. They won the Stanley Cup title that year as the team was superb and flooded with experienced players at that time.
This team is younger and inexperienced if we compare the two.
Still, the team has made it so far and seems to be in a strong position, ahead of the third game.
Lightning was also on the verge of writing their name in history for most consecutive wins in the playoffs but their streak ended at eight, just three short of the record.
This big transformation in the Lightning team will be discussed in the show and fans from everywhere will be given a chance to put up their questions ahead of the team’s owner.
