Tampa Bay Rays’ designated hitter Luke Scott to miss minimal playing time due to hamstring
The Tampa Bay Rays are in initial stages of 2012 Major League Baseball regular season, but receiving some bad news regarding one of their best hitters in the game Luke Scott who is currently not feeling well due to hamstring tightness.
"If I had to guess, that's what it'd be," Scott said.
“It just turned into a guitar string," Scott added. "Just tight, tight, tight."
Rays’ do not want anything that jeopardises their position early in the season and seriously want DH Scott to be fit soon. His contributions during the recent Spring Training were witnessed by many, but this news that he will miss some little, but significant time on field is serious for the Rays management, who relies much on his hitting powers and his exceptional long homers.
However team manager, Joe Maddon is optimistic for his player and stated confidently. "I don't think it's awful by any means," manager Joe Maddon said.
Luke, on the other, has already showed his power coming into the new season. He is currently carrying a .500 batting average along with 3 BRIs and .571 OBP while his career batting average of .265 along with 112 home runs, 344 RBIs and .349 OBP makes his real superstar.
Having seven years of experience, Scott knows his game well. Last year he played for the Baltimore Orioles while he previously has also played for the Houston Astros.
In the meanwhile, overall, the Rays are fine at the moment. They just need some good plays from several of their top players who are still not feeling comfortable and not performing well.
The Rays management lately introduced a new strategy in the offseason and now is the right time to implement this new game plan. Seeing last season’s results, the Rays management tried to focus on their pitching and asked their pitching coaches to prepare three to four pitchers who must be able to pitch seven to eight innings which will strengthen and give more time to relief pitchers to warm up in the bullpen while ultimately those relievers will come up with more fire power to throw.
