Tampa Bay Rays eyeing a victory in Game 4 of American League Division Series – MLB Playoffs
Not all hope is lost on the Tampa Bay Rays’ end as the club lost to the Texas Rangers 3-4 in Game 3 of the American League Division Series on Monday, October 3 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.
The Rays failed to put in a decent performance and ended up losing as the Rangers put up a strong offense in the seventh inning to score all their runs.
Tampa Bay fell behind on many occasions as David Price failed to keep a lid on the Rangers in the seventh, after pitching six scoreless innings. The Rays went up against a strong pitcher in Colby Lewis and managed to impress the fans. However it was still
not enough as the Texas’ relievers limited their concession to two runs and walked off with the winner.
Johnny Damon was one of the Rays’ men who scored and he did so against Darren Oliver, who loaded the bases to put the Rangers in danger. Damon ran home for the second run in the encounter off Sean Rodriguez’s ground out. The Rays were always the underdogs
leading up to the game but their recent performance has many experts claiming they have some fight left in them. Tampa Bay can still manage to put in a brilliant game and upset the Rangers. As the regular season showed, the Rays have the talent to take on
the top teams and produce some dramatic wins.
"We've been underdogs all year," Johnny Damon said. "We're not going to make the playoffs. We're not going to catch Boston. And we, as a team, look at each other and say, 'That's OK, count us as underdogs, but we're not going to buy into it.' Hopefully tomorrow
is another great finish for us here and we're planning on going to Texas."
Desmond Jennings smashed two home-runs in the game and he had a few words to say about the situation as well. "We got to win tomorrow, we know that," Jennings said.
If the Rays win tomorrow’s game, they will make it 2-all in the series and will force a final game for the deciding qualification to the American League Championship Series.
