Tampa Bay Rays flatten Minnesota Twins 6-2 – MLB Update
Tampa Bay Rays looked in terrific touch as they secured a 6-2 victory over Minnesota Twins at the Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida on Sunday, April 22 in the finale of a three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball.
Twins’ Francisco Liriano had a poor time on the field as he allowed five runs on three hits and four walks in five innings. The starter has struggled to pitch with control and accuracy since the start of the season and he will be eager to make a strong come
back.
"Frankie had another rough start. ... It doesn't look like he's pitching with a lot of confidence right now," Minnesota manager Ron Gardenhire said. "We're going to step back and see what we need to do to try and help him out, get his confidence back, and
try to figure some things out to help him."
"You can see him start kind of moping around a little bit on the mound," Gardenhire added. "He's a really good pitcher with great stuff. We just have to figure out a way to get his confidence back up there to where he commands everything."
The Rays won their second straight home series with a superb win over the Twins on Saturday night. The Twins will be extremely disappointed with the fact they missed some easy scoring opportunities during the contest.
With a poor 5-11 win-loss record, the Twins will have to work extremely hard on their strategies to put things back on the right track. It will be interesting to see if the Twins can defy the odds to make it all the way to the World Series finals.
Tampa Bay will be happy to come back from behind to win the series. The Rays had made a bright start to their 2012 regular season thrashing New York Yankees 3-0 in a three game series. However, they have not been able to give similar performances since then.
Although they have a great 5-1 home record, the Rays have struggled to give positive results away from the comfort of their home.
