Tampa Bay Rays lose to Chicago White Sox 1-2 – MLB Update
Tampa Bay Rays lost to Chicago White Sox 1-2 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida on Monday, May 28 in the opening game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Joe Maddon and his men will be disappointed to lose the game after they put up a great show in their previous series to improve their win-loss record significantly. Rays have surprised many national baseball writers with their
top quality performances this season.
Many of us considered them as the underdogs before the start of the season but considering their record of 29-20 so far, it will be safe to say that they are one of the favourites to win the American League Eastern Division title.
In a game where runs were hard to come by, Jose Lobaton’s RBI single in the fourth inning helped Tampa Bay Rays take a crucial 1-0 lead. For the White Sox, Adam Dunn played a key role in deciding the outcome of the clash as he
homered to right to put his team 2-1 ahead.
"That's two of the best young pitchers that have come through in a long time," Dunn said. "You had to kind of focus and not get caught up in what they were doing. Those two guys are something special, man. For sure."
"You know what, that guy could have punched out a lot of teams 15 times," Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon said. "His stuff was that good. The entire package, what he did, was good. A lot of awareness out there."
Chicago’s starting pitcher Chris Sale displayed some high quality throwing skills in a dominant victory. The guy has transformed himself into one of the best starters in the American league and he nearly made history for the White
Sox.
Striking out a career high 15, Sale gave up just one run and three hits with two walks in seven plus innings as he extended White Sox’s winning streak to six games. Rays’ starter Matt Moore gave up just two runs in over seven innings
but he was unfortunate to end up on the losing side.
