Tampa Bay Rays lose to New York Yankees 3-5 – MLB Update
Tampa Bay Rays lost to New York Yankees 3-5 at Yankee Stadium in New York, NY on Thursday, May 10 in the decisive finale of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season. The win will be of great importance for the Yankees who
had been struggling to find consistency in their game play.
Although they are now 17-14 with their win on Thursday evening, the fans were expecting their team to put up a better show against other top teams in American League. The Rays beat the Yankees 3-0 in their previous three game series and after they fought
back in game two of this series, it seemed they will find winning ways in the final game.
Rays will be disappointed to lose the game. Nine out of 12 of their losses have come away from the comfort of their home. Joe Maddon and company will be looking to get things back on track in their next series against Baltimore Orioles.
For the Yankees, C.C. Sabathia had a great time on the mound as he sent the Rays to their fourth loss in just five games. The starter pitched with great control and accuracy to help New York establish complete control over the contest.
Striking out ten batters, he made the Rays pay for their unforced errors. Sabathia had a great season last year and he will be looking to maintain his impressive form throughout this season to make a name for himself.
Tampa Bay made a very aggressive start to the contest with Carlos Pena, Sean Rodriguez and J Keppinger making valuable contributions to give them 1-0 lead in the first inning. Rodriguez continued to pressurise Rays’ starting pitcher Sabathia and he helped
the Rays take 2-0 lead in the second inning.
"I made some good pitches tonight, they hit them, that's it," Price said. "It's a good hitting team. You make mistakes and they hit them."
Curtis Granderson brought the Yankees back into the game, hitting a towering home run in the second to make the score 1-2. Robinson Cano also homered in the fifth to help the Yankees get 4-2 ahead.
