Tampa Bay Rays oust Chicago White Sox 10-4 – MLB Recap
Tampa Bay Rays beat the Chicago White Sox 10-4 in the third game of their four-match regular series encounter on Saturday, September 29 at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago.
Rays’ pitching rotation held the White Sox offence with great force and did not let them play freely during the entire game.
"We have to believe we're going to get the help while we take care of our own business. We're 1-0 on Saturday, let's go 1-0 on Sunday, I'm like the biggest scoreboard watcher, but at the end of the day I can't worry about that," manager Joe Maddon said.
White Sox remained under pressure as their batters disappointed with their poor hitting. They were unable to maintain the right level of energy which was needed to match the Rays’ brilliance.
"When he doesn't locate, I think that was the biggest thing for him today, He was just not in the zone enough. It was just one of those, you don't expect that out of him but it is late in the year and stuff can happen. Other than that we stunk," Chicago manager Robin Ventura said.
Starter Chris Sale also proved disastrous as he was hammered with big hits. He allowed five important runs and was hammered with seven hits on his 3.1 innings spell. He also received a homer which as a whole turned out to be one of his worst performances of his 2012 Major League Baseball campaign.
He played under pressure and could not handle his fast and curving deliveries as a result, Rays’ hitters took full advantage and won the game in style.
Relief pitcher Dylan Axelrod also played poorly as he pitched 1.2 innings and allowed three runs and two hits along with one homer on his blistering 5.47 ERA.
Meanwhile, Rays' pitchers played beautifully and outclassed the White Sox with great energy. They pitched in the right areas and rattled the White Sox not giving them any chance to bounce back during the entire game.
Starting pitcher Matt Moore pitched 5.1 innings and did not receive any run or hit on his consistent 3.81 ERA. Moore struck-out four and proved one of the winning factors for the Rays.
