Tampa Bay Rays’ outfielder Matt Joyce probably going to DL – MLB Update
Different sources are speculating in the media that Tampa Bay Rays’ outfielder Matt Joyce is going onto the disabled list as he did not play against the Washington Nationals due to tightness in his lower left back.
This is important to mention that after the Nationals’ game; the Rays' talented outfielder did state in the media that he is not feeling well and due to tightness in his lower back and probably will take some rest before the Thursday’s game.
"I don't feel like it's pulled or anything, Maybe getting sick got me a little dehydrated, Flying, sleeping in a different bed, there's a lot of factors involved. The heat (in Washington)." Joyce said.
Recently, the Rays’ executive vice president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman has stated in the media for his player’s chances to go onto DL and the chances of his getting back on the field before mid season break which will be a crucial moment for Tampa Bay side. He commented in detail and explained with different aspects which can also affect on Joyce’s potential comeback, "We can't say no, can't say yes, yet, With Matt, we're going to keep playing it out and see how he responds and see if he gets significantly better day after day. It hasn't happened to date. We'll definitely take it into (today) and see how he feels and make a decision from there."
Before his injury, the Rays’ outfielder Joyce was playing quite well with his hitting .279 along with eleven home runs, 34 RBIs and .387 OBP.
His injury, if prolonged, will hurt the Tampa Bay in the coming days. Rays’ at the moment are at third position in the American League East Division with 38-31 win loss along with .551 winning percentage.
In the meanwhile, despite Joyce’s probable risk of going onto DL, the Rays’ are little pleased that their veteran Jeff Keppinger is coming back from 15-day disabled list due to broken toe.
This is certainly a good sign that the Rays’ will be enjoying the services of their experienced player who was hitting .295 in 29 games.
