Tampa Bay Rays ready to take the lead against the Texas Rangers at home – MLB Update
The Tampa Bay Rays are currently tied 1-all with the Texas Rangers in the American League Division Series. Being in the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington for the first two games was tough for the visiting Rays but that situation will change on Monday, October
3 when the club hosts the American League West Champions at home. Though the audience at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg will not be as strong as the one in Texas, it still means a lot.
David Price will be the pitcher to go up against the Rangers and his motivation level is just right. His team-mates are backing the Number one ace in the line-up and there is much optimism in the air concerning the club’s chances of going 2-1 in the division
series.
Price was 12-13 in the season and his earned run average was 3.49. The hurler was disappointing in his last outing against the New York Yankees in the regular season but the management is hoping the player can change his stride in the post-season. Many fans
will be hoping for the star to restrain the Rangers below the five runs he allowed against the Yankees in four innings.
The Rays are hitting well against the Rangers and there is a positive outline on the situation right now.
"We're hitting them at the right times," centre-fielder B.J. Upton said. "I don't think we've had a solo homer yet, so as long as there's men on base when we're hitting them, that's all that matters."
The Rays however are looking for home support and they know how much that counts in the series as it worked well for the Rangers on Saturday, October 1.
"We saw yesterday how much of an advantage home is when you get the crowd involved," Evan Longoria said. "The crowd gets back into the game and before you know it it's 5-3. I think when we did have that run in 2008, with 10 to 12 sold out games, our record
spoke for itself."
Longoria concluded his statement by saying that he is looking forward to the advantage on Monday.
