Tampa Bay Rays vow to put forth a resilient show away from home – MLB News
The Tampa Bay Rays proved to be a force to be reckoned with on Wednesday, September 29 when they beat the New York Yankees 8-7 in the 12th inning of the game with a walk off homer from Evan Longoria at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.
The club did what was necessary to go through to the American League Division Series and their resilience is something the prediction mechanism cannot understand.
Many experts and baseball reporters are putting the Texas Rangers in favour of the match-up at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, against the Rays but after having a strong come back in the regular series, nothing can be said of the Tampa Bay club, with precision.
Desmond Jennings has come to the side to add a new style of play while the other rookie stars in the club have settled in well with top club players. Longoria talked about the club’s return to the top flight after going through a lot of bumps, earlier in
the season.
"It's just a bunch of guys who have put together an incredible season," third baseman Evan Longoria said of the resurging Rays.
Rangers are a force that knows no bounds either. Unlike the Rays, they have provided consistency on the offensive front and their experience has generated quality runs that put them on top of the league. Their batting average is strong and the Rays will
be on the back foot when they send their pitcher in to hurl. Nevertheless, Tampa Bay does not back out easily from a challenge.
"This team never quits," left-hander David Price said. "We didn't quit when we were 0-6 at the start of the season, we didn't quit in September, we didn't quit when we were seven runs down in the last game of the season and Boston was winning."
With the Rays in high spirits, it will be interesting to see how they will fare away from home when they send in rookie hurler, Matt Moore against an experienced pitcher like C. J. Wilson.
