Tampa Bay Rays vs. Texas Rangers: Game 5 playoffs
The fifth match between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Texas Rangers will be played in the home ground of the Floridians, Tropicana Field. With the game on the cards, it’s important to note the key players who will feature in the Day’s
fixture.
Tampa Bay Rays
Evan Longoria: The star batsman has been an influential figure in the league, to say the least. The hard hitter has the look to be one of the dominant forces in Major League Baseball, but his form in the
post season has been hitting a low mark on fitness. Before heading into the post season, the player mentioned his capacity coming off on 85 to 90 percent. With that said, there is no way of knowing how Mr. Dependable will play in his 5th outing
against the Texas Rangers. Sunday’s game saw an improvement from the main man as he smashed a homer and led two doubles in the game to fend off the West leaders.
Longoria has been impressive for side and there have been good things to point out about the heavy hitter. He averages .294 and has been on the forefront to score runs in the 2010 season, registering 96 on the mark. On the other
hand, he’s piled up 104 Runs Batted In and 22 Home Runs. He will be a person to watch in the next playoff game.
David Price: The 2nd top pitcher from the 2010 season has been instrumental in the Rays climb to the playoff ladder. The 25 year old was an amazing asset during the
season and he featured in 31 games as a start pitcher. His Earning Runs Average (ERA) sits on 2.72 and he will be the man to face off against the legendary Cliff Lee. His 19 wins and 6 losses were one of the best tallies in the league this year and he will
be hoping to get to 200 strikeouts by the time the post season concludes.
However, before his match against the Rangers starts up again, it’s important to note both he and Lee have crossed paths earlier and it was last Wednesday they took on each other. David lost his chance to impress and went out of
the game with allowing 5 runs off 9 hits. Furthermore his ERA came out on 5.40 after the match.
Texas Rangers
Cliff Lee: Lee has been an astonishing player. One can easily say his performance in the season can’t compare to his display on the field during the playoffs. The 32 year old maestro has not enjoyed a
good season in 2010 and that is understandable. He came to the Rangers on July 9th and much to anyone’s surprise, Lee was pitching strong and fierce. The man who has idolized the post season seems to take his inspiration from that time period. He
featured in 28 games and won 12 of them, while losing 9. The ERA on Lee depicts a figure of 3.18 and that’s just an abbreviation for his season’s bad display.
The ace man is a strong figure in the side and his inclusion in Texas means he’s the centre of all the right attacks going out. With 185 strike outs, the player will look to surpass the 200 mark and lay down the opponents hard
like always. Against the Rays he was amazing and last Wednesday saw one of his best performances on the ground. He conceded a run off 5 hits and took out 10 hitters. He will surely make the difference in game 5.
Nelson Cruz: Nelson is climbing up on his form and his input in the playoffs will be monumental in getting morale back up on the frame. The 30 year old has a batting average of .318 and his 22 homers in
the season speak volumes. He’s scored 3 runs and he’s got them all from home runs. Since Josh Hamilton is quiet, it may be time to look at the player who may take his place, temporarily.
