I got a phone sent to me in the mail(USPS) for $160 and the mail lady made a mistake and dropped it off at the wrong house(addresses look almost identical) and I called the post office and they had the lady go back to retrieve my item. However, the lady who lives at the house said her sister took the phone home with her and would get it back from her this afternoon. The mail lady said that they were speaking a different language acting like they could barely understand her, making me think they were trying to keep the phone. Do you think they will give it back? Also, what can I do if they don't? Can they be arrested? The name on the box clearly didn't resemble theirs and they opened it!! I got the phone off of ebay and it was uninsured but the mail lady said she would get it back. The people at the post office said the same thing. HELP!!!

 1. Go to the links at the very bottom of the USPS.com homepage. The people you need are either the USPS Postal Inspectors of the USPS Office of the Inspector general. This is a criminal situation. Don't wait around!

 2. Do as jenius said and file a police report. Also, the PO should accept some of the responsibility even though it wasn't insured. Talk to the post master. Finally, if you paid by credit card, they should also be notified.

 3. For starters report it to the police. Someone other than you has to pay for the phone and the mistake. Best of Luck.
