Question:

Tampon OK after (partial) D&C? I'm losing my mind...?

-I was supposed to have a D&C (sans anesthesia) Monday. Doc had to dilate me cuz drugs didn't work, so I was dilated but cut things short before curettage because of pain. Have rescheduled for two weeks with general.

-I just got my period two days early.

-I am at work. I have to stay late ('til 10--another 3 hours in New York).

-My doc's office is closed.

-There are no pads in the vending machine.

-Everyone else has gone home.

-It is 10 minutes to the nearest drugstore, and I need to stay at my desk as much as possible.

Will one tampon kill me, or should I do a makeshift pad out of paper towels? I figure it's sanitary cotton in a wrapper; I'm not planning on swimming in the Hudson River. But I don't want to risk infection. Anyone know anything about this?

This week is getting so bad that I'm almost finding it funny. Oh, and I'm wearing light-colored linen pants.

Thanks, all.

  1. I dont think its healthy to wear a tampon in your condition. I had friends who had d&c's and believe me you can risk catching something or making things worse. Try a lot of toilet paper or paper towels. It wont kill you.

  2. tell your boss its a medical emergency and run to the store. or is there a friend who can drop off some pads for you?

  3. I would not use a tampon...If I were you I'd get a roll of paper towels and hustle down to the drug store...

Or just call it a night and hit the liquor store for a bottle of wine and a maxi pad, on the way home.

Poor thing...I hope tomorrows better for you.  :)

  4. You should line your v****a with marshmallows

  5. No tampon because it harbors bacteria which could give you an infection if your cervix is not fully closed.
