Im 18 and have had my period since i was 12/13 cant remember and I have been using pads but want to try tampons since I dont really like the way pads feel. Im scared to try tampons because Im not sure if they hurt and if they allow leaking. My period isnt heavy and Im not sure what kind of tampon to try for the first time

  1. try obv like silk or something

  2. Tampons are great, but I will admit they do take getting used to. Just follow the directions and most importantly stay relaxed; tension will make it hard to insert and uncomfortable. I always wear a pantiliner when I use tampons because for me they do leak a little bit. It doesn't get all slimy and clotty though so it's preferrable for me, especially since my job is very physical and active. For your first time, try something with a plastic applicator just to make things easier.

  3. Relax. buy tampax pearl regular. read the directions and insert it you'll be fine.

  4. Tampons do not hurt.

They really only leak if you have a heavy flow and you got one that is too small.

If you can feel it, then you know you have put it in wrong.

You just need to "know" your body and your "internal" curves.

It will take time getting used to it, but it is easy.

I suggest Tampax. (The one with cardboard is best, cause you can throw the wrapper and the applicator in the toilet for easy clean up).

    I use Tampax Lites. (Purple)

I also use Tampax slender. (Pink)

They have more sizes, but those bigger sizes are really if you have an extremely heavy flow, so I would not go higher than just regular. (Yellow)

They come with instructions on how to use them and safety tips and all. I do recommend not using them at night. Stick with a pad at night. GL.

  5. Try slender first, truth is the all expand when wet. Now as for tips, breathe deeply and relax, proping one leg up helps if not try squating, and use a tampon with an applicator, remove all parts of the applicator and don't keep a tampon in for longer than the advised time limit (i always average it like {4-8 hours} i take it out at 6 hours) And read the pamplet that comes with them.

  6. Try just a regular tampon for the first time. Don't worry they don't hurt at all if they are in correctly. For leaking I wear a thin pad just in case. Wouldn't want a spot on my jeans ;]

  7. tampons are way better than pads. tampax acutally has a purple colored tampon for light flows. you may want to try that one first to get used to it. theres also something called "instead" it's a plastic band with whats kind of like a tiny plastic bag on the bottom and you put it in and it's similar to a tampon only it goes more with your body it feels and they can be put in for longer time and i find them more comfortable than tampons. you don't have to worry about that silly string hanging out of your bikini lol.

also try tampax makes compact tampons. their plastic and small so you can hide one in your hand on your way to the bathroom and it's discreet.

  8. ......... tampons are wayyyy more comfortable than pads. if your bleeding isnt heavy just try the small kind, that will be more comfortable anyways.

really, it just takes a few days to get used to. make sure you put it in right..
