Question:

Tampon questions (Girls only please :p)?

I've had my period for couple years now, and I can't seem to be able to use tampons. I've read the instructions, and used the slim applicators and it just feels really uncomfortable when I try to insert it, and it really won't fit. Does anybody have any advice on how to make it easier?

Is it ok if I don't ever use tampons? Is that seen as unsanitary, or wrong? I'm sorry this is such an awkward question, but I honestly can't see myself using them! I wish I could, but it just seems like it doesn't fit my body!

Mature answers only, please, and any help is very aappreciated:p

  1. Go to to your doctors office and they can show, *well not show you exactly, but can explain how to properly insert it.  Some people can't wear them, and pads will work.  Some pads are so thin and absorbant you won't even know.  Tampons can also cause medical problems if not careful.  So pad aren't always a bad thing.  Good Luck.

  2. oh i know i have the same problem, but i have to go swimming in school, and i like right next to the beach, and in my pe class, it feels like everyone knows i am wearing a pad.

  3. Tampons are more unsanitary than pads, however, pads can be more uncomfortable, messy, and sometimes smelly.  Do whatever you feel comfortable using.  You have to make sure that you insert tampons far enough, if you do, you shouldn't feel them.  You might be able to use a bit of unscented lubrication, but don't quote me on that.  You can also look into sea sponges for menstruation... I've heard good things about those.  Good luck!

  4. maybe you are just putting it in wrong. practice makes perfect.

just make sure that when you put it in, you are relaxed.

keep trying until it works because i hate pads. they feel like diapers.

  5. I had the same problem until I discovered O.B. no applicator tampons. Its just the tampon and you insert it with your fingers so you know its comfortable. Make sure you get it far enough in there or it will hurt when you sit or move. The applicator free are way easier and more comfortable, but definitely make sure you wash those hands after use.

  6. personally i love tampons and i think that they are so much more convenient but its not bad that you don't use them. a lot of my friends don't. but the fact that you can't get it in your body kinda sucks cause that means that s*x is out of the picture.

  7. Heck no. I had the same problem plus both me and my sister had Toxic Shock Syndrome. People will say this is from leaving them in too long but i actually get nauseous w/in an hour or 2. I don't wear them/ try to wear them anymore. Instead i use Always pads. They make a comfy extra thin but very absorbent pad (with wings). I know it stinks to miss out on the swimming and always feel like you're wearing a diaper but it is a lot better than trying to wear something that just doesn't fit right. Plus, because it never fit right i was always afraid of leaks. Hope this helps.

  8. If it's uncomfortable, you are not pushing the tampon up far enough. You should not be able to feel it, even, and the thin tampons should work for everyone.

Some women go through a life without a tampon. It doesn't matter, whatever holds the menstrual flow and the method you choose is your choice.

  9. I rarely use tampons. My doc told me that it would be healthier for me not to. Actually most docs that I know would rather a woman didn't wear tampons, and no it's not unsanitary. It's healthy and fine just make sure if you wear a pad to change it often and cleanse yourself daily if not more.

Can someone answer mine please? I need a woman's expertise as well.

  10. Try to stand a little when inserting it, it might make it easier on you, and the angle might make a difference. Also you may not be putting it in deep enough, you shouldn't be able to feel anything at all. The first few times it might be a little weird and awkward but it should wear off fairly quickly.

And theres nothing wrong with never using tampons. They're just smaller and more comfortable for most women.

  11. dont give up, try to insert the tampon at an angle, and dont be tense.

the first time i tried took FOREVER but it finally worked out for me

i had a friend behind the bathrrom door helping me too just in case lol

  12. me neither! it's very uncomfortable! as long as you, you know, wash youself daily it's not un sanitary. but if you feel like it is, they make feminine wipes.

  13. There's nothing wrong with not using tampons. In fact, it's probably safer to just stick with kotex. You should do what feels right to you. If tampons are uncomfortable, don't wear them.

  14. yeah, my periods are always heavy and long, but pads in my opinion are annoying.i only used pads for 2 years and sumtimes I would have to miss school. so I tried every type of tampon imaginable. Playtex sport was the only one that went in. Beleive me, life is so much easier. ok, to apply a tampon:

sit on the seet with your legs apart and bend forewards if it helps you.

there are two holes. find the one closest 2 the back.

hold the tampon applicator between your thumb and second finger

slowly glide the applicator upwards through the hole, slanted slightly towards your back. keep going up untill yout fingers touch your body,

(this will feel weird and uncomfortable)

push the end of aplicator, inserting the tampon

    then slowly remove the applicator.

there are also some (cartoon) video's on youtube that may help you.
