  1. if you put it in right you dont even feel it. try tampax pearl in slim or something like that since its your first time using tampons. make sure you get pearl ones too, it makes it more comfortable when putting it in. you can wear them up to 8 hours, but i advise that you should change after 3-4 hours depending on how heavy your flow is. if you keep them in for the right amount of time they shouldnt leak, and its better if you dont use them if its the end of your period, it can be painful to take it out.

  2. Something I found that was helpful, was wearing a thin pad even when I am using tampons because they can leak.  Also, they make different absorbancies, you need to be sure to get the lowest absorbancy on your light days.  You should NOT wear it all day, you should change them.  Hope this helps.

  3. if you insert the tampon correctly, you should feel no pain or discomfort. look at your box of tampons, it should tell you how to insert and everything inside the box. i only wear my tampons for about 3 hours to avoid yeast infection. sometimes they do leak, but it depends on which ones you buy and how heavy you flow is. don't sleep with tampons in! hope i helped :)

  4. You do not have to wear  tampons for school.  You wear a tampon because you want and need to.  The first person you should discuss this with is your mother, as she will be the best person to help guide you through this all.  If you have a tampon inserted correctly, you will not be able to feel it, and will have no problems walking or sitting down at all.  If it's not comfortable, it's in wrong.  Since you are young, you will need to use a junior, a slender, or at the most a regular absorbancy tampon.  The tampon makers do have varieties made specially for younger ladies.  The box will come with directions to help show how to insert it, and it is simply a matter of trial and error to learn how to best do it yourself.  Your period flow needs to be fairly constant to insert one, so you will not wear one when it is not.  For that you wear a panty liner or a thin pad, dear.  You will want to wear a panty liner anyway, as added protection.  Yes, tampons do leak- if they are not in correctly, or if it gets saturated before you change it.  You can't wear one all day at school, no.  You will need to change it at least every four hours.  If you start the day with a fresh one, you should easily make it to lunchbreak before needing to change.  Then you will be okay until you get home again.  You can also wear it all night, while you sleep.  For that you simply go to bed with a new one inserted, and change it as soon as you wake up.  On heavy flow days, it may leak a bit at night, so you will still want to sleep in undies and a panty liner most of the time.  When you try to insert one for the first time, I suggest you plan to use most of the box to learn with.  Wait until you are on the end of the first day, or the second day to try.  Go to the bathroom, and have a wee- so you don't wee on yourself while trying to get it in.  While you go wee, try to see if you can stop the urine flow and pay close attention to the muscles you use to do that.   The muscles you use for that are neighbors to a group in your v****a, and with some concentration you can tighten and relax the whole bunch.  This is important, because if you are uptight and nervous, and tighten those muscles, it won't be possible to insert a tampon.  And trying will hurt.  When you are ready to insert your tampon, bear down and relax those muscles.  Insert the applicator in as far as it will go comfortably, and depress the plunger, then remove the applicator.  If it's in the right spot, you shouldn't really feel a thing now.  If it feels odd when you stand, remove it with a gentle tug, and try over again.  If you have tried several times without luck, give it a break for a while.  It may also be, depending on your age and how developed you are, that it won't be possible to wear one just yet.  Tampons come in various absorbancies, but the overall length can be a bit too long for a young lady who is still growing.  It can also be stopped by a hymen that is intact and covering a lot of the vaginal canal.  If you don't have any luck at all, wait a few months and try again.  On the insert, there is information about toxic shock syndrome.  Don't let that scare you.  The occurence of TSS is extremely rare, and the risk is blown way out of proportion.  I've been nursing for many years now, and I've not seen a case since the 80's.   So don't let folks scare you about that.  Talk this over with your mom, and get her to help you.  No need to be embarassed, it's your mom.  She already knows all about this stuff.   If you get her help, it will go a lot easier for you.  And if it doesn't, don't get discouraged.  Just wait a bit and try again.  Good luck.  By the way, my daughter's like Tampax Junior and OB regulars- but you might want your mom to help pick out a few to try.

  5. if you insert it correctly you shouldnt feel it at all

and i would suggest using playtex gentle glide

and your only allowed to keep then in for upto 6 hours

so your gonna have to change it once during school

and they do leak if your period is slightly heavier

but it does last you A LOT longer than a pad does

and there are light tampons so you can use it during your lighter days
