  1. im sorry that really sucks about your friends and yes once you use them they are a lot better. im 13

lets see if you have a really heavy flow then u should change it like every 3 hours or so. but if your pretty normal or light i think you should change it every 5. dont go longer then 6 because u can get tss. its this bad thing i dont want to explain. dont worry about leak because even though that thing is tiny it absorbs a lot. now the first time you do it make sure your like really wet kinda because if your dry down there it will hurt putting it in same for going out. just stick it up there and push the other part so all you have is a string hanging and u should have two parts left which u just toss in the trash   hope it helped=]=]

  2. ha i'm 13 and i just started with tampons.  sit on the toilet with your feet together and your knees apart and push the tampon in gently and towards your lower back.  if you buy tampons, it will show a whole pamphlet thing in there about it haha.  you do have to change tampons every 4-8 hours.  i usually change mine during lunch.  the super tampons definitely hold a lot of blood.  you could wear liners just in case they do leak.  for your first ones, try playtex gentle glide, cause they are the most slender and are great to start off with.

    hope i helped :]

  3. Okay, when you put in a tampon, it is compact and tiny, but when you take it out and it is fully saturated, then it unfolds and gets larger but you are still able to get it out of course. Take one and run it under water and you will see how it works/unfolds. I always do that when I get a new kind of tampons. You should try it, it really helps you understand.

  4. Well tampons UNFOLD while theyre in you to absorb your blood. Sometimes people have heavier flows than others and need to wear super tampons. But if you have a light flow, you should wear regular tampons. Sometimes they leak depending on how often you change it. You should never leave in a tampon over 5 hours or overnight. Try wearing a pantyliner under the tampon so if it DOES leak then you have something to catch the blood. Its true they are alot better than pads. I never went back!

  5. Tampons are made to be very absorbent so dont worry they hold a lot of blood.  If you change your tampon frequently (even if you have a heavy flow) you wont leak.  You only leak if you don't change it in time.

Yes, tampons seem small, but pads are kind of thin if you think about it, and when blood comes out, you dont necessarily use the whole pad.

Once you master inserting tampons, you really wont go back to pads I guarantee it.

  6. usually you should wait at least a year before using tampons but if you feel your ready go for it just don't leave them in and forget about them because people have died from that so remember to be careful

  7. When a tampon reaches liquid, it expands. If you've ever seen the playtex commercials, or whatever, with the umbrellas, that's literally what tampons do. They expand so it's a little larger when they come back out, but it shouldn't hurt that bad if it soaked up enough and it takes time to get used to them.

And yes, it's true what your mom said. I started using them when I was about 14 and I've never went back. I started when I was 13 and I'm 15 now. I waited a few months before trying tampons, because one - I was scared, and two - my mom wouldn't let me use them until I got used to my period. You don't have to change them as much, but the time you change them depends on the absorbency of the tampon. [[light, regular, super.. etc.]] You shouldn't leak a lot, but I recommend wearing a pantyliner with it just in case you leave it in too long.

Also read up on TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome). It's very good to get educated on it, but not get scared because of it when you start using tampons.

As for inserting the tampon, just remember that it goes up, not across. When I started using them I had a problem of not pushing them up into me, but rather straight across when sitting down, which won't help at all. Read the instructions because it tells you certain things about the positions you should try when inserting it, and how far in it needs to be in order to put the tampon in. There will probably be something that feels like it's blocking your way, but push a little harder and it should be fine when you pass that spot. It might hurt at first too, but if it's too uncomfortable when you walk, sit down, etc.. take it out and try again. It does hurt when you take out a dry one, but practice makes perfect! You won't get it perfect the first time, and it took me 4 times to get it right. Remember to RELAX and go up with it. And also, there is a string in case something doesn't feel right ;)

You can always take them out if you need to, and there's not rush for you to get comfortable with them, but once you are, man does it help oh so much!

Hope this helps and if you need anything else, feel free to email, etc.. :)

  8. tampons are design so you don't have to wear bulky and it convenient, but some time convenient is not always good, some woman's body's react differently to tampon, in no way am  i trying to discourage you from tryin it, it will take some practice getting use to, oh and you will know if you have it in wrong, i use to wear tampons ever since i was a youth but as i got older i kept getting these strange infection after each cycle for almost a year so i decided to come off the tampons, and i have not had another infection so everyones body is diffrent and react to certain things, but try to see if you like them i love them i just mad i can not use them anymore

  9. it expands wen its up there sucking up da blood if u dont change it wen it needs to b changed yes u cud leek so make sure u change every 4hrs try using da tampon for da 1st time like on one of ur heavier days (period) reece says at all!

  10. Ah don't worry this was a problem of mine too.

But really tampons do work. They unfold, just take one, and put it in some water and you'll see yourself :P

And if you are afraid you will leak, and it may happen, i've had it happen, wear a panti-liner just in case. That always helps me =] Or just change every couple hours depending on how heavy you are.

    good luck!

  11. If you are a heavy bleeder you might have to wear and tampon and a pad, but you wont have to change as much. Tampons are more comfortable and hygienic then sitting in a pool of blood all day. Make sure you try the slender or regular tampax pearl as they are much easier to use, especially for first timers:)

  12. Take that super heavy flow tampon and dip it in a cup of water! It gets very big, and thats what it does when it begins absorbing the blood, gets bigger.  If you want to srart using tampons at this age (and I did so its not big deal) I would use kotex, thats what I've used since 9th grade.  The playtex ones are very long and so you can feel them a lot more, I think. The kotex tampons are shorter, but thicker and they still work, even better than playtex I think, they are easier to insert too.  Still wear a panty liner bc even with tampons you will still leak and need to change them every couple of hours as well. Good luck. I know it seems stressful and like a big deal now, but don't worry about it.  Every girl has questions when they start and if you're friends laughed at you then are they really your friends?
