Question:

Tampons & water park?

I'm 16 years old and i've never used a tampon before, only pads. I just got my period last night and I'm going to a water park and amusment park in two days. I read online and it said to use a tampon, but i've never used one before. Any advice on how to use one?

And I also know that it says to change it every 8 hours, but odds are I'd have to keep it in for like 14.. is that safe? Is there another method other than a tampon to help protect me at a water / amusment park?

  1. no, you have to change it every 8 hours that's important. just bring an extra one with you and put it in a backpack or something...??

and tampons don't guarantee that there won't be any blood, sometimes it gets past the tampon. go to the store and buy like the super ones or something... sorry i don't know of any other method, but if you're going to the water park in two days your period should get lighter by then, so a tampon should be fine. but still, i recommend changing it often.

as for using tampons, buy a box of them and there'll be a piece of paper inside the box telling you how to use them.

    good luck, hope i helped

  2. Don't let ole mother nature ruin your good time, tampons are easy to insert. My teen daughter likes the playtex easyglide, plastic applicator. Prop one foot up on edge of toilet seat and insert, there are directions included in package. It may take you a few tries before you get it right. Don't panic!  The only real issue with the time limit is tampons can only absorb so much, if you push it to 14 hours you are bound to have leaking, which would be very embarrassing. Why can't you change it at the park, they have restrooms. Good luck

  3. it isnt safe n these days u av to change every 4hrs not 8 just follow the intractions try to relax wen putting it in n nope theres no other method dat cud b used in water im sure ul av to use da toilet at sum point so change it then

  4. 14 hrs where did you hear that?  I change every 2-3 hrs.  You need to practice putting them in before you go  and no there are no alternatives.  The pamphlet that comes with the tampons shows you how to  insert one.  Relax and be sur to gt in all the way and tht only the string is hanging out.  Then too sheck yourself at the park the string cold be hanging out of your bathing sutie which is imbarrassing.

  5. If you do a search there are plenty of topics on correct tampon insertion, so I won't go into that here, but you can also go and get the Instead cup.  I've used it before and they are wonderful-- and you can leave them in for 12 hours.  They are sold at Wal-Mart, some grocery stores, and most drug stores in the feminine aisle, usually on the top row somewhere.  You pinch it together and insert it into your vaginal canal, and then push it up a little bit and make sure it stays in place.  It collects the blood inside the body.  Then afterwords you put your finger in and remove it.  Its very easy, although I suggest you practice before going to the water park.

  6. You NEED to change it every 8 hours.

The only way with water and periods are tampons or moon/diva cups.

  7. tampon works!!

just make sure you change it more than 8 hours
