Tan Boon Heong and Koo Kien Keat embrace changes in their training programme
Malaysia’s top players in Men’s Doubles category, Tan Boon Heong and Koo Kien Keat, have started working on the changed training programme in order to get rid of their poor run at international stage by eliminating all of their weaknesses.
The World Number Six Boon Heong and Kien Keat have accepted the changes which have been formed by the coaches in national squad and have started to play according to the new adjustments in order to revive their winning form.
Tan Boon and Koo Kien have lost numerous matches in major international tournaments to lower seeded opponents and have also been remained struggling to play top class badminton for the last two years.
They want to get back on the winning track again as they desperately need to win major tournaments in order to find a better seeding in the 2012 Olympic Games, but it seems quite challenging at the moment because they are completely out of form.
However, after having a healthy discussion of coaches, Boon Heong and Kien Keat have started to put extra effort in their training sessions to eliminate their loop poles and to improve their game from all aspects.
Doubles head coach, Tan Kim Her expressed that changes were inevitable to put the duo on the right track. Now, Pang Cheh Chang and Yoo Yong Sung will help the shuttlers in improving their technical and tactical play of the game.
Rosdie Ghani has started working on the physical training of both players to make them tougher for competing well against the top shuttlers in the Men’s Doubles category.
Kim Her said, "I explained all the changes and they had no problem adapting. The programme has been put in place after much thought and Kien Keat-Boon Heong must put in effort and start their revival."
He further added, "I have also asked Kien Keat and Boon Heong to give their feedback on their daily training as it is an important development for them to become independent and know clearly what the changes are all about."
Now, Boon Heong and Kien Keat have started to work on their changed training programme to find the right track and get their confidence back before Olympic Games.
