Tan Boon Heong and Koo Kien Keat show improvement in their attitude towards Olympic Games
Malaysia’s Men’s Doubles ace shuttlers Tan Boon Heong and Koo Kien Keat show a lot more serious attitude towards Olympic Games as compared to their behaviour in the last edition of this mega event.
In the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Tan Boon and Kien Keat were not that serious and they paid the price by crashing out from the mega event at the quarter-final stage where they got treatment from Indonesia’s Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan.
The Indonesians eventually won the gold medal in the Men’s Doubles category in Beijing.
However, this time the Tan Boon and Kien Keat are determined to treat this tournament as their ultimate target and are working hard in training sessions to live up to expectations.
The World Number 8 Tan Boon and Kien Keat have been facing a severe criticism as they failed to win a major championship for the last two years.
They have been losing to their lower ranked opponents, indicating that they are lacking the required confidence in the court.
While talking about their performance in the last edition of Olympic Games, Boon Heong said that it was a mistake for not realising the importance of the mega event and he also said that they will not repeat it again.
He said, “In a way, we were fooling around and not taking it seriously and paid for it. We’re taking it a lot more seriously now, especially in training. Our form may have been really poor lately and there may not be much hope of us winning but when the
time comes, we’ll demonstrate our desire to win and give it our best.”
A determined Kien Keat said, “This time when we head to London, we’ll show them that we want to win it just as badly as well and will give it our utmost effort.”
The upcoming tournament for Tan Boon and Kien Keat will be India Open Super Series 2012, which will kick off in New Delhi from April 24-29. After that the due will compete in the home event of Malaysia Open Grand Prix Gold.
Tan Boon and Kien Keat are determined to prove their worth in Olympic Games and they are confident get good results this time.
