Tan Boon Heong remains gritty to put up good show at Thomas Cup Finals 2012 – Badminton news
Malaysia’s top player in Men’s Doubles category, Tan Boon Heong is confident to put his quivering run behind and shine at the Thomas Cup Finals 2012, which will kick off on May 20, in China.
Boon Heong and Koo Kien Keat, who have been ranked at number 8 in Men’s Doubles world rankings, have been facing a rough patch at major international tournaments for the last couple of year.
However, Boon Heong remains gritty to earn good results at Thomas Cup as it will boost the duo’s confidence ahead of London Olympics.
The 24-year old Boon Heong could not prove his worth in the last three editions of Thomas Cup Finals but he has got the top class skills and is ready to perform well in the upcoming edition of this prestigious team-event tournament.
Boon Heong and Kien Keat could not prove their worth in any Super Series or Premier Super Series tournament for the last two years and are desperately looking for a good outing to revive their confidence ahead of Olympics.
While talking about his previous performance in Thomas Cup Finals, Boon Heong said that he have had quivering results in this prestigious tournament.
He said, “So far, my Thomas Cup Finals record has been up and down. This time though, I promise to get it right with Kien Keat to play consistently well and make it a memorable outing. Expectations are high on us and I believe we can deliver.”
While talking about his prospects in the upcoming edition of Thomas Cup, Boon Heong is determined to put up good show and wants to live up to expectations in this tournament.
He further added, “Almost all our top ranked opponents in Wuhan will be our challengers in the Olympic Games too. This is an opportunity for us to help the team and also gauge where we stand against our rivals.”
A good performance at Thomas Cup Finals will put Boon Heong and Kien Keat on the right track for Olympic Games 2012 as well because they will be playing against the same shuttlers in the mega event.
