Tan Chun Seang tames Kaveh Mehrabi to penetrate into Men’s Singles final at Peru International
Malaysia’s Tan Chun Seang was in his prime form in the Men’s Singles semi-final showdown when he proved his superiority over Iran’s Kaveh Mehrabi and penetrated into the final of XVII Peru International 2012 on Saturday, April 14, in Peru.
Chun Seang, who is number seven seed in Men’s Singles draw of Peru International, showed his hard-to-learn skills in the semi-final battle and overpowered his opponent without any trouble.
The higher ranked Malaysian was quite impressive in his game plan against Mehrabi and remained successful in ending the match in straight sets while taking just 36 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, Mehrabi failed to continue his winning streak in the tournament as he could not cope up with the power play of his opponent and lost the match without bagging any set.
The Malaysian was in complete control from the opening points of first set and remained ahead on the board without facing any problem.
He played aggressive shots and managed to put pressure on his lower ranked opponent. His strokes landed in right areas and he set up a decent lead until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Chun Seang continued playing positive and flawless badminton and also maintained his upper hand in the game. He ended the opening set with an incredible 21-13 margin on the board.
In the second set, Chun Seang continued toppling his opponent by remaining positive and aggressive in the court.
However, his opponent was playing a little better badminton this time as he was taking shuttlecock early from all corners.
Until the mid-game interval, Chun Seang was the leader on points table as he set up a reasonable lead.
After the break, the seventh seeded Malaysian extended his lead by playing to his maximum potential and managed it while remaining positive.
He did not miss any opportunity to earn points and maintain his supremacy in the game. He eventually bagged the second set with a striking margin of 21-15.
Chun Seang stamped victory over Mehrabi in this 36-minute semi-final clash with an overall 21-13 and 21-15 score on the board.
