Tan Jin Shen and Zulfadli Zulkifli are through to quarter-finals in the National Junior Circuit
Malaysia’s Tan Jin Shen and Zulfadli Zulkifli have booked their place in the Men’s Singles quarter-finals of the Under-18 category by beating their opponents in the round-of-16, of the National Junior Circuit 2011, in Malaysia, on April 16.
In the pre-quarterfinals, Tan Jin got rid of Mohd Razlan Shah Ridzuan Shah by beating him in a thrilling three-set match, whereas, the number one seed, Zulfadli, crushed Mohd Shahdan Mat Desa in straight-sets.
Tan Jin proved his worth against Mohd Razlan by playing a better game. The match was quite interesting as both shuttlers played superb badminton throughout the match. In the opening set, Tan Jin remained ahead and won it with a narrow margin of 21-19.
Mohd Razlan bounced back and won the second set with a 21-13 margin, proving that he also belongs to the same class of players. In the final set, Tan played a better game and clinched the set with a 21-16 margin. The concluding score of the three-set battle
was 21-19, 13-21 and 21-16.
The number one seed of the event, Zulfadli, showed no mercy to Mohd Shahdan and clinched the match to two sets. The top seed opened his campaign against the opponent in an impressive way. He proved that he is far ahead in skills by winning the first set
with a one-sided margin of 21-13. Mohd Shahdan tried to match the pace of the game in the second set, but failed to control the bird. Zulfadli won the second set with a 21-15 margin. The ending score of the match was 21-13 and 21-15.
The event of the National Junior Circuit is organised to identify potential shuttlers in the whole country and to provide them with the best available training opportunities, to become world-class players. The categories of Under-12, Under-16 and Under-18
are included in this event.
Jason Loo Koon Seng and Chan Ren Cong have also joined Tan Jin and Zulfadli in the quarter-final stage by winning their round-of-16 matches. The quarter-final round is sure to be a cracker, with all players moving into the matches with immense confidence.
