Tan Kim Her determined to prepare Men’s Doubles parallel pair to Tan Boon Heong and Koo Kien Keat
Malaysia’s Men’s Doubles new head coach, Tan Kim Her is determined to prepare another competent pair parallel to top seeds, Tan Boon Heong and Koo Kien Keat to enhance the chances of winning medals at the 2012 London Olympics.
Kim Her has been recently appointed as the head coach for Men’s Doubles with a target to produce better results in next year’s Olympic Games. The coach is determined to improve the quality and skills of the shuttlers and eliminate all loop poles in their
game to make them competent for the mega event.
However, the top priority of the coach will be to take care of top seeds and World Number Five duo, Tan Boon and Kien Keat. The duo is the best medal hope for Malaysia in the Olympic Games, which will take place at Wembley Arena in England.
Kim Her knows that Tan Boon and Kien Keat are complete players but they lose matches because of their lack of confidence. He also pointed out Kien Keat in this regard and the fact that the shuttler needs to work hard on the mental aspects of the game and
requires more mental toughness for achieving better results.
While talking about the top seeds, the coach said, “They actually have what it takes to become a top pair once again but I believe the problem they face now is their confidence, in particular Kien Keat.”
However, the coach stressed to have another Men’s Doubles pair Malaysia at the same level of the top seeds. He also appreciated the recent performances of Goh V Shem and Lim Khim Wah and knows that the shuttlers have the spark to play like top seeds.
The coach said, “Lim Khim Wah-Goh V Shem are in a good position following a string of good results lately and could be ranked within the top 40 by the end of this month.”
Kim Her is optimistic for better results in the Olympic Games from the Men’s Doubles elite shuttlers under his charge, as he is determined to work hard and fulfil the responsibilities which are assigned to him by the Badminton Association of Malaysia.
