Tang Yi grabs Women’s 100m freestyle gold – 2012 Chinese National Swimming Championships
Tang Yi of Shanghai grabbed gold medal of the Women’s 100m freestyle on opening day of the 2012 Chinese National Long Course Swimming Championship in Huangshan, Anhui Province on Sunday, September 23.
Yi demonstrated her immaculate efforts in the double lap freestyle event and overpowered her opponents by seizing gold medal of the race.
She faced tough competition from her following swimmer in the first lap but with her unmatchable pace in the second fifty, she paved her way to the finishing wall for the title.
Tang enjoyed a half body length lead over her closest competitor and earned her way to the finishing wall for gold medal by producing a nice effort of 54.37 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Shen Duo of Jiangsu, who remained 0.52 seconds behind and surfaced on the finishing blockade as second best finisher by producing a time of 54.89 seconds.
Duo was chased by Cao Yue of Shanxi, who suffered a loss of 0.53 seconds behind and transpired on the finishing end as third best finisher by producing a time of 55.42 seconds.
Following that, the audience witnessed exhausting efforts of Huang Chaosheng of Hunan, who upset his competitors by snaring the title of Men’s 400m Individual Medley (IM).
Chaosheng showed no mercy to his opponents in the distant IM event as he rushed his way towards the wall for gold medal. With his impeccable pace, he remained in a lead of two body lengths over his closest swimmer and touched the wall with an effort of 4
minutes and 12.25 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by his teammate, Yang Zhixian, who remained 1.94 seconds slower from proving his mettle for the title and surfaced on the wall by producing a time of 4 minutes and 14.19 seconds for silver medal.
The second position holder was traced by Wang Chengxiang of Shandong, who stayed two and a half body lengths behind and clocked an effort of 4 minutes and 16.59 seconds.
In addition, Yi and Chaosheng expressed happiness over their victories in their exclusive events and collected medals after the session.
