Tanglewood Tagg is tagged with victory in A3 race at Nottingham
In the world of greyhound racing, the dogs often receive different labels or superlatives. Words like ‘favourite,’ ‘long shot,’ ‘champion,’ and ‘loser’ are often heard. One label that
the dogs chase after in every 500m race at Nottingham Greyhound Stadium is ‘winner.’ However, only one dog in each race can claim that title.
Tanglewood Tagg (5-2) was one such dog. He cruised to a close victory in the first of two A3 races during an exciting race meeting. Coming out of trap six, he led third, and ended up with
a first-place finish in 31.17. Finishing just a ½ length behind him was Salacres Mike (7-2), who claimed second place in 31.21. He went wide early on, but had a clear run.
Salacres Lanny (9-2) also had a clear run, and she placed third in 31.25, which was a ½ length behind second place. Fourth place went to 2-1 favourite Romeo Vieri. He moved slowly away
from the pack and crowded second, resulting in a 31.39 finish that was 1¾ lengths out of the top three.
Droopys Fran (7-2) led first, but crowded third, losing 1¼ lengths in the process. She went on to finish the race in 31.49. The sixth and final position belonged to 12-1 long shot La Barola.
She crowded first en route to a 31.79 finish that was 3¾ lengths out of fifth place.
Woodland Dan (5-1) was the champion of the second A3 race. A strong start from trap three allowed him to lead first on the way to a 3.126 finish that guaranteed him first place. Matching
Woodland Dan’s time of 31.26 was second-place finisher Capla Major (7-2), who was just a shoulder’s length behind after crowding first.
A clear run gave Killnascully Gem (7-2) third place. Her time of 31.27 placed her a shoulder behind second place. Hotfoot Lorrenzo (5-2) finished fourth, despite a clear run. He finished
the race in 31.28, which was just a head’s length out of the top three.
Looney Time, the 9-4 favourite, moved slowly away from the pack and finished in 31.60, despite a clear run. He was four lengths behind Hotfoot Lorrenzo. Rounding out the pack was Clover
Luck (8-1), who was not lucky today. He lost ¾ lengths after crowding first, and he went on to complete the race in 31.66.
Nottingham Greyhound Stadium will hold its next race meeting on Friday, 5 November. The first rave of the evening is slated to begin at 18:28.
